Scottish Open Poomsae Championships

Five of the club travelled to Falkirk to compete in this weekend’s Scottish Open Poomsae Championships. As expected the standard was very high attracting not just many of the best competitors from the UK but also a good number from Europe.   Our competitors showed improvement in their performances especially in the area of presentation.   However all of us are still losing marks on accuracy which will need to be a focus in our training.

Our only medal was a bronze in the 1st Female Team synchronised, the marks acheived here were good especially given that the team have only been working together for a short while, and had drawn one of their least favourite poomsae, Taebaek.

This tournment was part of the long term development of the standard of competition poomsae in the club which will include further seminars and tournaments over the coming year.   The standard of poomsae in the UK at competition level is very strong and it will require time, dedication and focus for us to get to these levels but the improved performances at the weekend showed that we have the base to build from.
