Neo Botha has become the first female member of Overton and Basingstoke Taekwondo to win a medal at the British Taekwondo National Championship. Neo compete at the Nationals this Sunday in Manchester and played really well to take a well deserved Silver Medal in the Female Cadet -37kg division. Despite initially going behind, she fought a strong semi-final to eventually come out the winner 11-4 against a player from BTS. In the final she faced a player from Black Widow Taekwondo, it was a very even match until the close of the second round when Neo was caught with a head shot which she countered with an excellent back kick to the head. Unfortunately the referee had called break as she kicked so the counter didn’t score and she was also deducted. This gave the player from Black Widow an unassailable lead. However she fought through hard in the final round but was unable to pull back the points.
A Silver in her first Nationals is a brilliant result. The club is proud of you!
