WTCF Summer Camp

Master Gerry and Master Lynne have recently returned from South Korea after taking part in the World Taekwondo Chung Do Kwan Federation training camp. They joined practitioners from across the UK and around the world, all connected through the Chung Do Kwan tradition. With more than 100 participants fully committed to training hard, the camp offered a valuable opportunity to learn, develop, and train alongside a new wide range of people and coaches.

A strong emphasis was placed on high‑quality basic technique and Poomsae under the guidance of GM Shin, ensuring every movement was delivered with energy, precision, and clear completion. Participants also had the chance to experience the exceptional skills of Master Lee Seongjang, coach of one of Korea’s leading Kyrougi teams, and Shin Ho‑Gyun, specialising in Self Defence and Korean Military applications.

The training portion of the camp concluded with the World Citizen Peace Taekwondo Championship. With a format different from what they were used to—categories based on Chung Do Kwan grade rather than age—Master Gerry achieved a gold medal in the 8th/9th Dan category, while Master Lynne earned a bronze medal in the 5th Dan category.

After the competition, the group enjoyed sightseeing, including day trips to the Taekwondowon and the Kukkiwon. Both locations offered a powerful celebration of South Korea’s heritage and cultural diversity. These visits were not just for sightseeing, however; they also included short training sessions in these iconic and inspiring settings.

This training camp is held annually, offering plenty of opportunity for other Bluewave members to take part and enjoy these remarkable experiences in future years.
