Report from America…

This weekend Bluewave had a team competing at the Master Eric Rose Memorial Championships in Detroit. This event is run in the memory of Master Eric who died three year ago attempting to rescue a woman from drowning. Master Eric was an excellent martial artist and friend to our club.
The competition yesterday was played in an amazing atmosphere, great competitive spirit but with friendly attitude from everyone. After the competition there was a relaxed party with live music from Grandmaster Rose’s band “Eric the Red”. The team competed very well with bronze medals all round (Coleen, Sian, Callum and Luke) in the poomsae, plus a silver for Luke in the sparring and a strong effort from Callum who despite playing three matches just missed out. Thanks also to Sian who corner judged throughout the sparring and to Coleen for coaching. I also had the opportunity to judge poomsae and referee. Today we continue our trip with a little shopping.
Thank you especially to Grandmaster Rose and the KTAA for inviting us to attend.
