This was the final weekend of a very busy May for Bluewave, with a kup grading on Saturday, pre-dan grading seminar in London on Sunday and then the 1st Harrogate Mayor's Cup Open Poomsae Championships on Monday. Once again a good set of performances with 6 medals from 7 divisions. The medals were
Coleen Reilly - Gold (U30 Dan Team Female)
Jonny Hainsworth - Gold (18+ Dan Male Freestyle), Silver (U30 Dan Pair), Bronze (U30 Dan Male Individual)
Gerry Reilly - Bronze (U60 Dan Male Individual)
Hannah Seddon - Silver (U35 K3 Female Individual)
Gerry Reilly and Olwen Barton also judged at the event.
Great day at the Eric Rose Memorial Championships in Detroit, USA. Gold for Jonny in Sport Poomsae and Open Poomsae, and a Silver in Sparring. Gold for Coleen in both Sport Poomsae and Open Poomsae. Gold for Gerry in Sport Poomsae. Bronze for Hannah in Open Poomsae. Excellent performances all round. Really friendly event and an opportunity to remember a friend and excellent Martial Artist, Master Eric Wayne Rose. As soon as we know a date for the 2018 tournament we will start planning for a return trip next year.
We have had to make some changes to the calendar with Easter coming up and also some clashes with other events. The website calendar has been updated but I thought I'd also share these directly.
Classes will not be running on Friday 14th nor Saturday 15th April.
Classes will run as usual on Monday 17th April.
All other classes will run as usual during the Easter holiday period.
Regional Poomsae Training
Next Southern Region Open Poomsae training will be in London on Saturday 15th April, 2-5pm in Forest Hill. Details on the website calendar.
Next Bluewave Competition Poomsae Training
With the addition of the British Masters competition in London, which includes poomsae, to the calendar we have changed the Competition Poomsae Training on the 6th May. This session will now be running an extended format from 12.00-3.00pm - ideal final preparation for those competing at the British Masters or preparing for the next kup and dan gradings.
The next kup grading will now be on Saturday 27th May starting at 12.00pm.
Senior Belt Training
April training will be on Saturday 22nd April to avoid Easter weekend
May training is cancelled as it clashes with the KTAA Championships. Senior grades are strongly encouraged to attend the Pre-Dan Seminar in Kingston on Sunday 28th May.
We have also made available a couple of short polls on the website to get your views on times for the Sport Class and also some other potential additional classes that we might look to add later in the year. Please look on the website under the 'Contact Us' tab to access each of three polls. Your opinions are important to help us shape how we develop the training schedule and so please do take a few minutes to respond to these very short polls. Thank you.
